Life is so much better, so much richer, so much more joyful, when you have a village. My Village has been an essential component to my life for the last 34+ years. Finding your people isn’t always easy but when you, do hold on tightly to them, they are your chosen family. Those friendships are the ones that span the decades of life, that share the ups and downs, highs and lows, ins and outs, both the good and the bad and sometimes the downright heartbreaking moments of life. The trials are made easier and the celebrations are made all the more beautiful with true friends.
If you haven’t found your village, get out there and make those connections, look people in the eyes, talk less and listen more, let down those walls, go deeper in your conversations, find who you can trust, foster vulnerability, be their safe haven, stay committed, do the heart work and build your village. Thank God, time and geographical distance doesn’t matter now due to the various social media platforms readily available at our fingertips. If one or more of your village move across the country, or heck, even to another continent… be intentional and always cling to those friendships.
When my cup is running low, they can be counted on to fill it right back up. When I need prayers, after first taking it to God, they are the next ones I turn to. When hard work is on the horizon, they are my biggest cheerleaders. When something good happens, they are the first to celebrate with me. When I need them, they’ll come running with open arms and open hearts.
Find your people, and never ever let them go.
Perfume and oils bring joy to your heart. And the sweetness of a friend comes from their honest advice.Proverbs 27:9
“Friends are friends foreverFriends by Michael W. Smith
If the Lord’s the Lord of them
And a friend will not say never
‘Cause the welcome will not end
Though it’s hard to let you go
In the Father’s hands we know
That a lifetime’s not too long
To live as friends”
