Dilly Bread

Delicious homemade crusty bread with a hint of dill! This is one of my favorite childhood recipes!

Ingredients

  • 1 pkg active dry yeast
  • ¼ cup warm water
  • 1 cup cottage cheese
  • 2 TBSP sugar
  • 1 TBSP minced onion
  • 1 TBSP butter
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 tsp dill weed
  • ¼ tsp baking soda
  • 1 egg, unbeaten
  • 2 ¼ to 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour

Directions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Soften the yeast in water. Combine in bowl: cottage cheese, sugar, onion, butter, dill, egg. Beat well. Add yeast and mix. Then, add enough flour – a little at a time – to your dough. Beat again. Let rise to double in bulk in a warm place. Stir down.

Mold your dough and place in a greased baking/bread pan. Let rise to double in bulk again in a warm place. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes. Brush top with butter and sprinkle with salt. **Chef’s Kiss**
