Angel Biscuits

Ingredients:
  • 5 cups flour
  • 3 tsp baking powder
  • 1 cup shortening
  • 1 pkg. dry yeast
  • 2 cups buttermilk, room temperature
  • 1 tsp soda
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 2 TBSP warm water
Directions:
Dissolve yeast in 2 TBSP warm water and dissolve. Put this mixture in room temperature buttermilk. Cut shortening into sifted dry ingredients. Then add buttermilk and mix. Roll out thin (1/4 inch) and cut with biscuit cutter. Dip biscuit in melted butter and fold in half, placing on a cookie sheet. Bake 400 for approximately 12 minutes or until lightly brown. These freeze well.
